Two weeks ago my friend Juan Pablo helped me refurbish my cv and created a html version of it, updating and upgrading his cv template.
I wanted to have it online ASAP, so I got it uploaded to github making use of the wonderful github:pages engine. Check it out!. Awesome, isn’t it?
I’m also thinking of moving this blog to a jekyll-bootstrap powered blog over at github, but sincerely, I think that wp.com offers more visibility, apart from services like, RSS and social media integration, that are pretty much basic for blogs IMHO. I don’t want to overcomplicate the technical-blog thing just for the sake of being geekier, edgier or whatever.
You can have almost all simple services/integration you need with a static page generator(jekyll, pelican, octopress, etc), and I think is easier to maintain than WP because git is your DB and you just have to serve static files, isn’t it beautiful for a simple blog?
I’m using jekyll bootstrap and I don’t have to care about plugins, software updates or dbs, it just works!
Anyway I think blogs are a solved problem, so we shouldn’t spend much time discussing which is the best way, the best way is the one that works for you.
Thanks for your comment!
Being a hosted wordpress blog, I don’t have to worry much about software updates or db’s either, but I think I will definitely give jekyll a try, just for kicks
Cheers!
